Description

Printed broadside containing "Company Orders" headed "Artillery…Second Regiment," one page, 8 x 13.25, September 30, 1811. The orders begin: "A Court Martial was ordered for the trial of Lieut. Cummin and Adjutant Dunscomb, and proceeded on the trial of Lieut. Cummin, on the following charges, viz. First.—For unofficer-like and improper conduct, in disobeying my orders, on the parade of the thirteenth June inst. in refusing to furnish the Adjutant a file of men from the platoon you commanded. Second.—For unofficer-like and improper conduct, in endeavouring to resist that order by force…Thitd.—For unofficer-like and improper conduct, in ordering your men to charge bayonets on Corporal Floyd Smith." Below, the orders state: "The Court duly considered the said charges, the evidence and defence, and honourably acquitted Lieut. Cummin…The charges against Adjutant Dunscomb were found to be in some degree informal, and on this ground the Court threw out four of them." In very good to fine condition.
