German-born author and illustrator (1898-1977) best known for the popular Curious George series of children's books. Scarce ALS, one page on the reverse of a 5.5 x 3.5 personal postal card, December 31, 1953. Letter to Mr. Goold, in full: "I liked your little sketch & suggestion of two wings for Pegasus. The only reason I hesitate to have it this way in my book in case of a new edition is this: crossed lines are apt to be a bit confusing if one tries to draw them in the sky, in the imagination. But I shall think about it anyway, and many thanks!" In fine condition, with a bit of postal cancellation to the top. Rey's lifelong interest in astronomy led to his publishing of Stars: A New Way to See Them in 1952, a guide to stars, constellations, and planets that offered a simpler view of the constellations by creating more realistic depictions of the images the constellations were supposed to represent.
