Description

Harry Blackstone, Sr

Renowned American magician (1885-1965), often billed as The Great Blackstone, who reached the peak of his popularity in the 1930s and 1940s. Uncommon ALS signed “Harry,” one page, 8.5 x 11, illustrated Blackstone letterhead, August 1948. Letter to magician and magic shop owner Elmer Eckam, in full: "Where in hell are those umbrellas—I want to use them this season—Need them by August 20—as we open in Canada Aug. 24—So RUSH THEM." In very good condition, with irregular toning and slight haloing to the ink. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope addressed in Blackstone's hand. Letters by Blackstone are quite scarce, and this example boasts a desirable magic-world association.
