Samuel A. Otis

Statesman from Massachusetts (1740-1814) who was a delegate to the Constitutional Convention and served as the first secretary of the US Senate. Manuscript DS, signed “Sam. A. Otis Sec'y,” one page, 7.75 x 12.75, January 30, 1812. A US Senate document, in part: "Ordered, That the memorial of Thomas Corcoran and others, citizens of Georgetown in the District of Columbia, praying the privilege of making Wingdams in the river Potomac, be referred to Mr. Anderson, Gregg, Goodrich, Smith of Md., Bradley, to consider and report thereon by bill or otherwise." In very good to fine condition, with some creasing and edge tears, and chipping along the bottom.
