Description

Kichisaburo Nomura

Japanese naval officer and diplomat (1877-1964) who was the ambassador to the United States at the time of the attack on Pearl Harbor. Christmas card depicting Mount Fuji, measuring 7 x 4.75 closed, signed and inscribed inside in black felt tip, "Capt. Martin E. Carlson U.S.N.R., Kichisaburo Nomura, with personal regards. Warm welcome to Japan." In fine condition. From 1946 to 1949, Capt. Carlson was chief defense counsel for all Japanese in the war crime trials held by Navy in Guam.
