Rheumatism in the hand, makes it difficult to write. Hence the mess of unacknowledged letters mostly asking for autographs is daily increasing upon him. As it is impossible to answer one in fifty, he must, in future, neglect all—not on matters of importance." In fine condition. This was published in the New York Times on February 26, 1863, as part of the column 'Amusements.; A Card.'
