ALS signed “Dick Nixon,” one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, March 20, 1978. Letter to film producer Hal B. Wallis, in full: "Mrs. Nixon and I saw 'The Nelson Affair' on T.V. last night. It was a superb picture and proves the point I made you at Walter's birthday party—'Any movie which is produced by Hal Wallis is bound to be one of the best.' Keep up the good work—." In fine condition. Released in the United States as The Nelson Affair, the 1973 film Bequest to the Nation depicts the relationship between Admiral Lord Nelson and Lady Hamilton during the Napoleonic Wars. Other notable films Wallis produced include The Adventures of Robin Hood, The Maltese Falcon, Sergeant York, and Casablanca, for which he won an Oscar.
