Major General in the Continental Army (1742-1786) who entered the army as a private and rose to become one of Washington's most able and dependable general officers; he is best known for his exploits in the Southern Theater, actions which set the stage for Cornwallis' defeat at Yorktown. Ink signature, "Nath. Greene, QMG,” on an off-white 5.25 x 2.5 sheet clipped from a letter or document. The signature is affixed to a larger sheet bearing an engraving of Greene. In very good to fine condition, with trimmed edges, intersecting folds, and writing showing through from the reverse.
