United States Army corporal (1919-2006) who served as a combat medic with the 77th Infantry Division in World War II. He saved 75 men during the Battle of Okinawa and became the first and only conscientious objector to receive the Medal of Honor during World War II. The Oscar-winning 2016 film Hacksaw Ridge is based on Doss's wartime heroics. Rare FDC with a portrait cachet honoring Congressional Medal of Honor recipient Desmond T.
