Description

Prominent American businessman (1841-1922) who co-founded Standard Oil along with his older brother John D. Rockefeller, and also had interests in mining, railways, public utilities, and banking. Partly-printed DS, signed “Wm. Rockefeller,” one page, 12.75 x 8.5, June 26, 1877. Mortgage bond certificate for the Chicago, Block Island & Pacific Rail Road Company issued to William Rockefeller in the amount of $5,000, endorsed on the reverse by Rockefeller on April 27, 1878, to transfer the title to a trust. The ornate certificate features vignettes portraying the railway's infrastructure. In fine condition.
