Wonderful vintage matte-finish 11 x 14 half-length photo of Laughton as Captain William Bligh from the 1935 film Mutiny on the Bounty, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, "To Harry, from, Charles Laughton.” Reverse bears a William Grimes/MGM credit stamp. In fine condition, with a small crease in the lower right border. An immense box-office and critical success upon its release, Mutiny on the Bounty teamed up two of cinema's most talented actors—Laughton and Clark Gable, both of whom had earned Best Actor Oscars within the past four years. The film did little to slow their momentum, with each earning Best Actor nominations (they lost to Victor McLaglen in The Informer) and the film winning Best Picture. An exceptional portrait of Laughton, who remains rare in signed photos from this famous film.
