Two photos of the Wild Bill Hickok monument, known as 'Wild Bill's Monument': a 4.25 x 6.5 cabinet photo of the monument with sculptor James H. Riordan, by H. R. Locke & Co. of Deadwood, South Dakota; and a 7 x 3.5 stereoview photo of the monument of Wild Bill Hickok at Deadwood, by W. R. Gross of Hot Springs, South Dakota. In overall very good to fine condition, with scattered light silvering and surface impressions to the cabinet photo. Riordan completed the sculpture in 1891, and it was ultimately destroyed by souvenir hunters chipping away chunks of it as a keepsake from Wild Bill's grave. Eventually, it was replaced by a bronze replica in Mount Moriah Cemetery.
