Pencil signature, "18 Upper Gloster Place, Dorset Sqr, Jefferson Davis,” on an off-white 3 x 1.5 slip. In very good condition, with light staining and soiling. Charged with treason and imprisoned after the Civil War, Davis was released on bail and moved to England in August 1868. A month after charges were officially dropped, Davis and his family moved to 18 Upper Gloucester Place in March 1869.
