Michel Chevalier

French engineer, statesman, and economist (1806-1879) who, with Richard Cobden and John Bright, prepared the free trade agreement of 1860 between the United Kingdom and France, which is still called the Cobden-Chevalier Treaty. Untranslated ALS in French, one page, 5.25 x 8, postmarked April 12, 1839. In fine condition, with two short edge tears and a thin strip of toning.
