Description

Original photocopy of Prince's handwritten notes given to Eric Leeds, one page, 8.5 x 11, circa 1988-1989. The interesting notes concern the changes to be made for a potential third Madhouse album, which Prince and Eric had finished recording in December 1988. Prince gave this photocopy of a page from his personal notebook to Eric, with comments and instructions related to the tracks; some notes include "sample piano part," "groove like 'the Stick' should be re-cut," "Have Eric play 1st lead line then solo after guitar," "add real drum samples," and "add big horns on lines." In fine condition.

Despite initially planning a release in early 1989, it was decided to not release the third Madhouse album (to be named 24) in its original form. Subsequently, Prince and Eric decided to 'start over' so Prince gave this photocopied page of notes and comments to Eric. It has interesting references to songs, several not titled but identified only by the numbers on the recording tape reels. This album was finished by Eric, but not released as a Madhouse album—instead it became Leeds's initial Paisley Park/WB recording entitled 'Times Squared' (#27499-2) released in early 1991. From the collection of musician/saxophonist Eric Leeds and accompanied by a letter of provenance.
