Description

'Raspberry' earrings from Prince

Gorgeous pair of golden clip-on earrings personally gifted by Prince to his former girlfriend Jackie Swanson, each .75″ in diameter, featuring a sextet of deep red gems set to center and encircled by a ring of alternating floral designs. In fine condition. Accompanied by a letter of provenance from Jackie Swanson.

After moving to Los Angeles actress Jackie Swanson earned her first paying job handing Prince a guitar in the music video for ‘Raspberry Beret,’ the first single from the platinum-selling album Around the World in a Day. According to a 1985 letter from Prince, Swanson was also the inspiration for an unreleased song entitled ‘Palamino Pleasure Ride.’ Warner Bros. casting noticed Swanson alongside Prince in 'Raspberry Beret' and as a result she auditioned for and was cast in the role of Amanda Hunsaker in Lethal Weapon; she performed her own free fall stunt in the film's opening sequence. Jackie Swanson then joined the cast of the acclaimed television series Cheers from 1989-1993, during which time Prince gifted these 'Raspberry' earrings to her as a sweet remembrance. On a couple of occasions Prince visited the Cheers set located at Paramount Studios and watched as they filmed before a live studio audience. Most notably, Prince was present during the filming of the Cheers episode entitled 'An Old Fashioned Wedding.' As a personally-gifted memento related to one of Prince's biggest hits, this is a wonderful piece.
