Description

Rocking Stockholm in 1964

Vintage circa 1964 advertisement for the Swedish audio recording company Forstarkarbolaget AB, 8 x 6.25, affixed to a slightly larger cardstock sheet, signed on the advertisement in blue ballpoint by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and Ringo Starr, with a closely clipped ballpoint signature of George Harrison affixed to the upper left. In fine condition, with some whiteout around Harrison's signature. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks, as well as a letter of provenance from the original recipient, in part: “In the middle of the sixties, I worked as secretary at ‘Forstarkarbolaget AB, B. Frolinger & Co.,’ owned by my uncle Birger Frolinger…My uncle…intended to make an advertisement in the professional journal Show Business, when he received the autographs of the Beatles. He received the autographs in connection with the set-up of Hi-Fi sets…for the Beatles concert in 1964.” Less than a year after their first visit to Sweden, the Beatles returned to Stockholm to play a series of four concerts at Johanneshovs Isstadion on July 28-29, 1964. The immensely popular two-day showcase was the penultimate stop on the band’s globe-trotting 1964 world tour, their first major international venture as a band.
