Description

Fine length of lace used for Diana's shoes

A bolt of the ivory-colored lace used for Princess Diana's wedding shoes and the trim on her bridesmaids' dresses, measuring 1.5″ wide, annotated "43.5 M" at the top of the cardboard bolt (true length unmeasured). The fine lace features a three-petal floral pattern with alternating 'dots' and 'crosses.' This lace was used to border the heart design on Diana's shoes and as trim on the bridesmaids' dresses. It was also used on Diana’s dress to border the lace around the bottom and bodice where the historic Queen Mary’s lace was used, helping to blend the other laces into the dress. In fine condition. Accompanied by several pages removed from the 2006 book A Dress for Diana by David and Elizabeth Emanuel, showing close-ups of the lace on Diana's shoes and a sample swatch used for the bridesmaids' dresses.
