Uncommon matte-finish 7 x 9.5 photo of the Trumans waving from the steps of their private plane, the 'Sacred Cow,' boldly signed in fountain pen, "Harry S. Truman," and "Bess W. Truman," with the calligraphic notation "Christmas 1946" along the bottom, displayed in its original White House gift folder. In fine condition. Only about 575 of these coveted 1946 Christmas cards were signed and given to the White House staff.
Uncommon leather bookmark given as a gift to members of his staff, 1.75 x 11.5, gilt-stamped with a presidential seal and the text, "'I would rather have peace in the world than be President,' Christmas Greetings from The President and Mrs. Truman, 1948." In fine condition. About 740 White House staff members received these 1948 leather bookmarks as gifts.
TLS, one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, April 26, 1961. In part: "Replying to yours of the 19th regarding the Exposition in Seattle of the Space Age World's Fair in 1962, my suggestion is you keep in touch with me and if there is any chance I can appear at this Fair I will be glad to do it." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope bearing a pre-printed free frank.
