Description

Jimi’s Woodstock-era string winder gifted to a fellow guitarist

Vintage circa 1969 white plastic guitar string winder once owned by Jimi Hendrix, measuring approximately 3.5″ long, given to his friend and fellow guitarist Lawrence ‘Larry’ Lee. Also includes a carbon copy of a wire transfer receipt made by Lee to his wife on September 4, 1969, and an original three-day Woodstock ticket. Expected wear to the guitar string winder and soiling to the ticket, otherwise overall fine condition. Previously sold by Sotheby’s, 1991. Lee was attending Tennessee State University when he met Hendrix and they played together in the Nashville area before going separate ways in 1963. The two reconnected in the summer of 1969, and Lee joined Hendrix on stage at Woodstock to play rhythm guitar.
