Letter to General James Grant Wilson, regretfully declining an invitation to lunch with fellow former president Rutherford B. Hayes, in full: "Genl. & Mrs. Grant regret they cannot accept the invitation of Genl. Jas. Grant Wilson & Mrs. Wilson for lunch on the 15th inst. to meet President & Mrs. Hayes. Their engagements as such—having accepted an invitation from the Penn Club of Phila for the evening of the 15 of May—that it will be out of their power." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope addressed in Grant's hand.
