Description

Amazing and exceedingly rare 1937 publicity artwork

(Walt Disney Studios, 1937) Rare original publicity painting featuring Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck from Hawaiian Holiday, showing them together on a surfboard with Donald playing a ukulele. This publicity artwork was used for book art, magazine articles, publicity stills, and as the final concept for the movie poster. It is attributed to Hank Porter, one of the defining artists in the Disney Studios publicity department during the mid 1930s, and bears a secretarial Disney signature to the lower right which was done by Porter. Accomplished in watercolor on 15.5 x 11.5 art board. In fine condition. It is believed that there are fewer than ten paintings of this type in the world today.
