Description

Uncommon letter from Truman during his vice presidency

TLS as vice president, one page, 8 x 10.5, Office of the Vice President letterhead, January 26, 1945. Letter to William Sandeson, an editorial cartoonist at the St. Louis Star-Times, in full: "Thanks a lot for your note of the Twenty-third enclosing me a cartoon from the Star-Times, which I very much appreciated." Truman adds a brief handwritten postscript, "You really did a job on the ending." In fine condition. President Roosevelt died less than three months into Truman's first term as vice president, making letters from this period scarce and highly sought-after.
