Description

TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, The Salk Institute letterhead, May 16, 1975. Letter to J. L. Pruett, in part: "These are particularly trying times and the world seem to be beset by more problems than one can cope with. I believe that the largest number can be attributed to intolerance and/or greed; moreover, I think this has long been so. My earliest ambition was to go to Congress to right some of the injustices that exist. As a physician and a scientist I have had an opportunity to do so although in a somewhat different way. I would like to express to you my admiration for the work you are doing. You are in the midst of such injustice as we hope one day to be able to prevent, and I am sure no one would be happier than you should we succeed." Includes an original glossy 7 x 9 press photo of Salk giving an autograph for a seven-year-old who was to receive a polio vaccine the next day, dated April 21, 1955 on the caption affixed to the reverse. In fine condition.
