Partly-printed vellum DS as president, signed “Wm. H. Taft,” one page, 15.75 x 19.5, April 13, 1911. President Taft appoints George W. Beaman as "Pay Director in the Navy, with the rank of Rear Admiral on the Retired List." Signed at the conclusion by Taft, and countersigned by Acting Secretary of the Navy Beekman Winthrop. Blue naval department seal remains affixed to lower vignette. In fine condition, with a small chip to seal. Beaman saw extensive service during the Civil War, and served as a Navy pay director during the Spanish-American War.
