1890 appointment of "a Member of the Continental Railway Commission"

Partly-printed DS as president, signed “Benj. Harrison,” one page, 14.75 x 10.75, October 1, 1890. President Harrison appoints George M. Pullman, of Illinois, as "a Member of the Continental Railway Commission." Signed at the conclusion by Harrison, and countersigned by Secretary of State James G. Blaine. Large white wafer seal remains affixed to lower left. In fine condition. Pullman was an American engineer and industrialist who designed and manufactured the Pullman sleeping car and founded an eponymously named company town for his workers. A unique association piece.
