Governor of Connecticut who was the only colonial governor to side with the Americans during the Revolutionary War (1710–1785). Revolutionary War–dated partly-printed DS, signed “Jonth. Trumbull,” one page, 11.5 x 7, January 24, 1783. As governor of Connecticut, Trumbull appoints Joseph Alden "to be Captain of the 9th Company…in the 22s Regiment in this State." Signed at the conclusion by Governor Trumbull and countersigned by George Wyllys as secretary. The white paper seal affixed to the left side remains partially intact. In very good to fine condition, with some scattered creasing and splitting to folds.
