George Szell

Jewish-American conductor and composer (1897–1970) who is largely considered one of the twentieth century's greatest conductors; he is remembered for his successful tenure as the longtime music director of the Cleveland Orchestra. Uncommon pearl-finish 8 x 10 photo of Szell by Editta Sherman, signed and inscribed in black ink, "To Bob—with my very warmest admiration and affection. George Szell, January 1960.” Reverse bears a photography credit stamp as well as a Cleveland Orchestra stamp. In fine condition, with scattered light creasing and silvering. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
