Flown heatshield plug from the Apollo 13 Command Module Odyssey encased in an acrylic cylinder measuring 2.75″ in diameter and 2.75″ tall. The plug measures 1.5″ across and has the number “12” engraved on the bottom. The cylinder is engraved on the bottom with black text, “Apollo 13, April 11-17, 1970.” In fine condition. From the personal collection of Apollo 13 Command Module Pilot Jack Swigert and accompanied by a letter of authenticity signed by his sister. Heatshield plugs are made of a lightweight fiberglass honeycomb, which is hand-filled with an ablative resin material in order to limit heat exposure during re-entry.
