Theodor Billroth

Austrian surgeon and amateur musician (1829–1894) who is regarded as the founding father of modern abdominal surgery; as a musician, he was a close friend and confidant of Johannes Brahms, and one of the first to attempt a scientific analysis of musicality. Untranslated ALS in German, signed “Dr. Th. Billroth,” one page, 5.75 x 9, June 14, 1888. In fine condition, with scattered light foxing. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
