ALS signed “Arthur Wellesley,” one page, 8.5 x 10.5, February 4, 1809. Letter to P. Rogers, in full: "I have received your letter of the 22d ultimo and have written to the commanding officer of the 60th Regt upon the subject of its contents; but I do not at present know exactly where to forward my letter; It shall be sent as soon as I can learn where to send it." In very good to fine condition, with archival tape on the reverse to reinforce intersecting folds and two tears (one of which passes vertically through the signature). An early letter from the hero of the Peninsular Wars, still five years removed from earning his title of Duke of Wellington.
