I am quite sure I wrote and thanked you for your birthday remembrance too. We seem to have bad luck about your birthday cards don't we? Anyway it was very kind of you to think of me. I do hope you have a very happy Christmas and everything good in the New Year." Leigh adds the valediction and makes two emendations to the text in her own hand.
