Partly-printed vellum DS, signed “George R,” one page, 13.5 x 9.25, June 29, 1809. The king appoints Abraham Josiah Cloete as "Cornet to that Troop…in our Fifteenth (or the King's) Regiment of Light Dragoons." Signed in the upper left by the king. White and blue paper seals remain affixed to left side. In fine condition, with moderate intersecting folds and scattered light staining. At the time of signing this appointment, the king had lost much of his sight due to cataracts, and, less than two years later, illness and intense grief over the death of his youngest daughter, Princess Amelia, left the king permanently insane and living in seclusion at Windsor Castle until his death.
