Fingerprint card for a noted Purple Gang soldier

Detroit gangster and owner of the Oakland Baths, or 'the Schvitz,' a health club and restaurant frequented by the Purple Gang in the early 1930s. Original fingerprint card for Harry 'Chinky' Meltzer, 8 x 8, completed by the Detroit Police Department, and bearing Meltzer's fingerprints individually and simultaneously, with a few ink notations adding information for number ("73118"), color ("W"), and sex ("M"). Includes a copy of a fingerprint card for Meltzer issued by the Cleveland Police Department, 7.75 x 7.5, dated November 13-14, 1946, with fingerprints and number matching those found on the Detroit card. In very good to fine condition. Accompanied by two postal telegraphs from the Detroit Police Department, dated November 29 and December 5, 1933, both relating to Purple Gang member Harry Kirshenbaum, a recorder's court disposition for defendant Harry Meltzer, March 30, 1950, with a warrant charge of "1-Poss of Valerium 2 Purchase of Valerium," and a detached slip issued by the Federal Correctional Institution of Milan, Michigan, with a received date of November 29, 1945, listing an eight month term for Harry Meltzer.
