Description

Uncommon letter from "Filly" to "Telly"

ALS signed “Filly,” one page, 3.75 x 5.75, personal letterhead, postmarked 1961. Letter to his sister Estelle Frankfurter, in full: "Nice man, this Rabbi. I have written to Smith and Benj. C. It was a joy to see you." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in his own hand. Brought to Washington as part of FDR's New Deal brain-trust, Benjamin Cohen was Frankfurter's protégé and an architect of New Deal legislation as well as the American lend-lease policy during World War II. Frankfurter's lengthy lifetime correspondence with his sister is well-documented and housed at the Harvard School of Law, making any private examples exceedingly scarce. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
