Description

Joseph Bonaparte

Older brother of Napoleon (1868–1844) who served as King of Spain from 1808 to 1813, and King of Naples from 1806 to 1808. ALS in French, signed “Joseph, Cte de Survilliers,” one page, 7.75 x 9.75, May 12, 1827. Letter to the Duke of Bagnara Marc Antonio Colonna, in full (translated): "Mr. Hopkinson, a young American naval officer, sends you this letter. He is one of my fellow field officers for whom I have much affection. I wish you will remember all the affection I have had for you and your family so that you will welcome him as one of your friends. He will give me all your news upon his return here. I will be very happy if the news is as good as I hope. I beg you to remember and never doubt my constant affection." Nicely double-matted and framed with an engraving and an attractive full English translation to an overall size of 21.5 x 23. In fine condition, with a small circular sticker next to the signature. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
