Iconic white ruffled shirt worn by Prince during the Purple Rain era. The shirt is made of a light material with faux pearl buttons, and a ruffled chest, collar, and sleeves. A tag is sewn inside the collar with purple thread reading, “Prince.” Includes the two jeweled cufflinks worn with this shirt. Also includes an issue of the Prince fan club magazine ‘Controversy,’ featuring an image inside of Prince wearing this style of shirt and cufflinks. In fine condition, with a stain on the inside cuff and worn elastic on the sleeves. From the collection of costume designer Helen Hiatt. The tag was made for the shirt by Sara Daubney, who worked in the costume shop for the movie; many shirts of this type were made for the film and the tour. The accompanying cufflinks were cut off from one of these prior to laundering. An amazing Prince piece worn during the height of his 1980s fame. Accompanied by a letter of provenance from Helen Hiatt.
