Enigmatic and important Hollywood director (1894–1969) credited with polishing Marlene Dietrich into a glamorous, sensuous star. Two items: an ALS signed “Josef von Sternberg,” one page, 7.25 x 9, January 1961, in full: “I just returned from Europe—to find your letter requesting my autograph. I hope this note will answer the purpose”; and a circa 1966 Christmas card showing a Henry Moore painting on the front, measures 12.5 x 5.5 open, signed inside in black ballpoint, “Seasonal Greetings, Josef von Sternberg.” In overall fine condition. Accompanied by two original mailing envelopes, both addressed in von Sternberg’s own hand. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
