Hawaiian swimmer and actor (1890–1968) credited with spreading the sport of surfing. Rare glossy 8 x 10 cardstock publicity photo of Kahanamoku surfing a wave, signed and inscribed in black ink, “To Frank, Aloha Duke, 6–14–66–.” In fine condition. Accompanied by a secretarially signed letter on Duke Kahanamoku letterhead, as well as the original mailing envelope. Kahanamoku is extremely rare, with this being only the fourth item we have ever offered, and the very first signed photo.
