Original hand-colored preliminary design for a Bruce Springsteen concert poster by psychedelic artist Gary Grimshaw, 11 x 17, signed and inscribed in black felt tip, “To Julie, Bruce Springsteen.” Accomplished with a mixture of ink, paint, and colored pencil and marker around an affixed cutout image, the poster was designed for “A Concert to Benefit the Christic Institute,” at Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium on November 16, 1990, and lists Bonnie Raitt and Jackson Browne as special guests. Affixed to a slightly larger mat, and signed on the mat in black ink by the artist, “Gary Grimshaw,” adding “1990 ArtRock.” In fine condition. Influenced by Stanley Mouse, Rick Griffin, and Victor Moscoso, Grimshaw has earned his own place within the rock and roll art scene by producing eclectic posters for bands like Cream, The Who, Led Zeppelin, and the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Springsteen appeared solo for the first time since his rise to fame at the 1990 Christic Benefit shows, which took place on November 16–17 at LA’s Shrine Auditorium. The emotional, solo acoustic sets are considered some of his finest live performances, and were recently released as part of his ongoing Live Archive series. Authentic Springsteen signatures on original artwork are of the utmost desirability. Pre-certified REAL.
