Rare 1958 Disneyland Gold Pass, 3.75 x 2, issued to “Mr. and/or Mrs. Welton Becket,” and signed at the bottom in blue ink, “Walt Disney.” Reverse has been signed by Welton Becket as the card holder, which allowed him, his wife, and a party of five into Disneyland. In fine condition, with some mild toning to reverse, and a couple strokes of Disney’s signature a shade or two light.
These gold passes, charmingly adorned with a depiction of Sleeping Beauty‘s castle, were reserved for Walt Disney’s most important associates. Noted architect Welton Becket shared a long personal and professional relationship with Disney; his firm designed the ‘Magic Skyway’ exhibition for the 1964-1965 World’s Fair and later designed both the Contemporary and Polynesian resorts for Orlando’s Disney World. Any Disney-issued pass is extremely desirable, this one even more so with its direct relation to an integral contributor to Disney’s creative vision. Pre-certified Phil Sears.
