ALS, four pages on two adjoining sheets, 5.5 x 7, Winterbrook House letterhead, July 20, 1964. Letter to Ian R. Pepper, in part: "I am sorry that you didn't understand Mrs. McGinty's Dead. I shall endeavor to do better next time...I shall say this if you want or need advice then look no further than the words of Albert Einstein who once said-Seek not to become a man of success, but rather seek to become a man of value. I hope they will suffice. Good luck with your life and remember some people who read my books say my books are slow and difficult to follow or they are absurd or too complex. But to me they are simple and of just the right length. I have the same opinion about the books they obviously prefer. So you see Ian, life is just a continuing series of opinions and choices, but it is those opinions and choices which parse the pathways of our life. By them we stand or fall and in some cases it is by them we live and die-as in my books." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope addressed in her own hand.
