Hollywood’s tragic crooner (1908–1934) who was killed when a friend accidentally set off a firearm, discharging a bullet that ricocheted off the table and hit Columbo in the forehead; at the time of his death, he was romantically involved with Carole Lombard. Vintage matte-finish 10.75 x 13.75 portrait of the multitalented Columbo, boldly signed and inscribed in fountain pen, “To the Stars’ Friendship Club, Sincerest regards and kindest wishes always, Cordially—Russ Columbo.” In very good to fine condition, with two horizontal creases broaching the facial area and a crease to upper left and some silvering to background.
