Vintage matte-finish 11 x 14 Clarence Sinclair Bull portrait of the fetching MacDonald, nicely signed and inscribed in blue fountain pen, “To Emily, with appreciation, Sincerely Jeanette MacDonald, ‘The Merry Widow,’ 1934.” Lower right corner bears a Bull blindstamp, with a studio photography credit stamp to the reverse. In fine condition, with mild corner creasing and a small tear to right edge. Adapted from a Franz Lehar operetta, The Merry Widow starred MacDonald opposite Maurice Chevalier, and is best remembered for winning the Academy Award for Best Art Direction. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
