Description

The Golden Age’s sought-after producer

Pioneering film producer (1902–1965) responsible for all-time classic films like Gone With the Wind and Rebecca, both of which earned him Oscars for Best Picture. Vintage glossy 8 x 10.25 United Artists publicity photo of Selznick, signed in fountain pen, “D. O. Selznick, May 1937.” Collector’s ink notations on reverse indicate that the signature was obtained on May 10, 1937. In fine condition, with a few scattered light surface impressions. Selznick produced three films in 1937—The Prisoner of Zenda, Nothing Sacred, and A Star Is Born—with the latter earning him an Oscar nomination for Best Picture, already the fourth of his career. Less than two years later, Selznick would make cinema history with the groundbreaking release of Gone With the Wind. The famed producer remains exceptionally scarce and sought-after in signed photos. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
