Description

“You are equal to the greatest flautists in Germany”

German-born composer (1791–1864) best known for such operas as Les Hugenots and Robert le diable. ALS in German, signed “Meyerbeer,” one page, 8.25 x 10.25, July 1, 1843. Letter praising a flautist, in part (translated): "I wish you much success in your up-coming tour of performances…I am convinced that the best recommendation for you is that you are equal to the greatest flautists in Germany with your beautiful timbre, your brilliant dexterity, and your noble and expressive delivery. Surely, everywhere you go, spirited recognition and honouring receptions will be yours.” Retains the address leaf accomplished in his own hand. In very good condition, with intersecting folds, scattered light staining, and seal-related areas of paper loss to the left edge. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
