Description

Edmund Goulding

British film writer and director (1891-1959) who directed classics such as Grand Hotel, Dark Victory, and The Razor's Edge. TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios letterhead, May 14, 1932. Letter to Elliott Rothe at the Vanderbilt Theatre, in part: "Just a few lines to thank you for the seats for 'Revolt' and to once more tell you how much I enjoyed your beautiful performance of a most difficult role. It was a piece of acting that should certainly bring your name to the fore-ground. If you do decide to return to California, I sincerely trust you will allow me to make a test of you at our studios, which I will personally supervise." In very good condition, with scattered staining and moderate show-through from remnants on reverse.
