Magnificent vintage matte-finish 20 x 23.25 gelatin silver close-up portrait of Monroe gazing longingly into the distance, editioned, dated, and initialed along the lower edge in ink, “2/6, 1949, A. D.” Reverse bears an Andre de Diene photography stamp and pencil notation, “Tobey Beach, 49.” In fine condition, with some mild scattered creases. In 1945, de Dienes became the first photographer to shoot the young Norma Jeane as a professional model. His photos of Monroe appeared on over twenty-three magazine covers from 1945 to 1949 worldwide. A very limited, highly desirable pose.
