Hollywood costume designer and Academy Award winner (1907–1997) who worked with many notable celebrities including Rita Hayworth, Marlene Dietrich, and Marilyn Monroe, most notably designing her famous sheer gown for the Kennedy birthday bash. Attractive set of five original vintage signed sketches of United Airlines stewardess uniforms by Louis, accomplished in graphite, felt tip, and water color on transparent design sheets ranging in size from 7 x 11 to 8.5 x 11, with Louis signing the two larger designs in blue ballpoint, and adding ink and pencil notations to the other three, including: “2 buttons can be omitted and wings or pin won on tab” and “small scarf for size, large scarf for color, Please return scarves!” In overall fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, postmarked October 21, 1970, and bearing some notations in Louis’s own hand.
