Description

Jerome Kern

TLS, one page, 6.75 x 9.75, personal letterhead, April 21, 1933. Letter to Samuel Harden Church, in full: “It would be false modesty and unsportsmanlike to all the players in ‘Music In The Air’ not to admit I have received an extraordinary number of complimentary and edifying letters. But none, dear Mr. Church, has touched me as deeply as has yours. When a man in the rich maturity of your distinguished attainments, takes the time and trouble to comment with such gracious intelligence upon our efforts, it is not merely a pleasant acknowledgment of a mild, emotional thrill in the theatre, but a rare compliment indeed. As such I shall always treasure it. With a pride that perhaps transcends perfect decorum, I have taken the liberty of bringing your letter to the notice of the members of the company. In their name, as well as mine, I thank you.” Double-matted and framed with a photo of Kern to an overall size of 18.5 x 16.25. In fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
